India’s biggest telecom companies run by super rich boys Mukesh Ambani and Sunil Bharti Mittal are ready to launch satellite internet. They want to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink in India.
Bharti Airtel could start work with Eutelsat OneWeb in June. Ambani’s GeospaceFiber could launch later this year. Musk’s SpaceX has been trying to come to India for more than three years but has yet to get permission.
Musk told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he wanted to help remote areas with Starlink. But Mittal’s company is moving forward. It has all the approvals and could start soon. Modi’s party lost slightly in the elections, so now he is in a group with others.
Experts think that satellite internet can make a lot of money in India. Bharti Airtel may provide internet to the Indian Army in remote areas. Ambani’s company Reliance is still awaiting permission.
Even if Mittal and Ambani start first, it may not be as big as Starlink. Starlink has many satellites and rockets. But they still need permission to start in India.
