The results of the 18th Lok Sabha election was announced on June 4. The BJP coalition has won a majority of seats and is moving towards forming a government again. However, many constituencies in the country have become the focus of special attraction. Smriti Irani’s defeat in Amethi has not been taken lightly by BJP workers and supporters in the constituency. Similarly, the Baharampur constituency in West Bengal has also come into the spotlight.
Adhir Ranjan Choudhary was elected MP from Baharampur constituency five times simultaneously. He made his own empire there from 1999. However, five-time MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury lost to TMC candidate Yousuf Pathan, who made his debut in the polls.
Perhaps the results of this constituency were planned in advance by the TMC workers. The constituency has 52% Muslim voters. Therefore, the Trinamool Congress fielded a Muslim candidate in the constituency this time. As a result, Yousuf Pathan defeated Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury by a margin of 85,022 votes.
“I tried to do my best. I wish Mr. Pathan all the best for a bright future,” Adhir Ranjan Choudhary said after the results were announced.
